On December 19th, the Sino-German Video Conference on Neurosurgery was held in the Wenzhou Central Hospital. The Department of Neurosurgery of the hospital is a national stroke screening base, the leading unit for neurointervention in Zhejiang Province, and will be developed into a national key clinical specialty. The neurosurgery team of the hospital invited Prof. Rohde, President of German Society of Neurosurgery(DGNC) and Director of Clinic for Neurosurgery of University Medical Center G?ttingen, to attend the webinar to share online. During the conference, Secretary of the Party Committee of Wenzhou Central Hospital, Prof. SHEN Shurong delivered a welcome speech, and Prof. LU Chuan, Director of Department of Neurosurgery, acted as the moderator.Prof. Rohde gave an academic lecture titled “Neurosurgical aneurysm therapy: what’s new?”. The Neurosurgery Clinic of the University Medical Center G?ttingen is one of the largest neurosurgical clinics in Germany, with 3,000 operations per year, and nearly 50% of the patients with aneurysm will be treated surgically there. In the conference, the valuable experience of surgical treatment for aneurysms in Germany was shared to the neurosurgery team of Wenzhou Central Hospital. During the lecture, Prof. Rohde shared the problems and complications in aneurysm surgery and introduced methods, such as temporary clipping as well as the use of adenosine, navigated mircodoppler sonography, and microscopic/endoscopic indocyanine green (ICG) angiography, to treat aneurysms. He concluded that the main problems in aneurysm surgery and the principles of problem solution remain unchanged since decades, from the use of microscope, Doppler, endoscope to the current ICG angiography, the surgeons need to optimize the existing tools to further improve the surgical outcomes in aneurysm surgery. After that, Deputy Director of Department of Neurosurgery Prof. BA Huajun and Doctor CHEN Xiaoxiang shared several complex cases of intracranial aneurysms and had a heated discussion with Prof. Rohde, who greatly appreciated their treatment solutions for these cases. The neurosurgery team of Wenzhou Central Hospital shared their rich experience in the interventional treatment for aneurysms, which was a good adjunct to Prof. Rohde’s lecture themed surgical treatment for aneurysms. It benefited both parties. During the free discussion session, Doctor Chen also asked for Prof. Rohde’s advice to young neurosurgeons. Prof. Rohde said that it is very important to choose one specific field you are interested in and work on it hardly. At the end of the conference, Prof. SUN Jun, Director of the Brain Center, who was attending the conference from afar, said that the neurosurgery team of Wenzhou Central Hospital would hope to have an opportunity to meet Prof. Rohde in G?ttingen in the future, so as to learn about the new advances in neurosurgery treatment for further academic exchange.
